Dorich House, Surrey UK This is the house designed by the sculptor Dora Gordine. In May 2007 Caroline and Roger were given a tour of the building by Brenda Martin and Jonathan Black, of Kingston University, London, while discussing the publication of a book illustrating the life and work of the artist. Dr Black referred to the photograph (eventually used on the book jacket) of Gordine standing on the staircase at Dorich House as looking like Mrs Danvers on the stairs at Manderley, in Daphne DuMaurier’s novel Rebecca. Later, he kindly agreed to have his photo taken in a similar position.
